Highlight of this year’s Dreamforce is partnership between Salesforce and Google. We are super excited about the outcome of the collaboration and want to give quick perspective of the opportunities that lie ahead of us.
When we started SpringML we decided to partner with two companies we admired – Salesforce and Google. Salesforce brought disruption to the enterprise market by introducing Cloud and were a market leader in CRM. They were just getting into Analytics, with Machine Learning just on the horizon. Google on the other hand had deep expertise in Analytics and Machine Learning but were just getting started in exposing those services to enterprises via their Google Cloud Platform.
The analytics and machine learning landscape has changed significantly in the last two years. It is no longer the mysterious technology that claimed to solve all problems. Now customers are aware of what ML can do and what it cannot. Both Salesforce and Google have taken a leadership role in bringing ML and AI to the enterprise. Salesforce with its Einstein technology and Google with TensorFlow. Both have taken different routes – Einstein born out of a few acquisitions and TensorFlow being an open source framework that’s been tried and tested internally at Google.
The recent announcement of a partnership between Salesforce and Google comes with the promise of “making customers smarter and more productive.” This is a vision we share and the partnership allows us to move faster in realizing it.
Here are 3 solutions we built that leverages Salesforce and Google technologies.
- Ad Analytics: Understanding the impact of advertising spend and knowing how various parts of an ad campaign contribute to sales is key to measuring impact on overall advertising strategy. Traditional solutions that provide such analytics are complex and unable to provide information in a timely manner. Google Cloud Dataflow and Salesforce Einstein Analytics provide technologies that can make the ad analytics solution simple yet very powerful. Salesforce.com provides the CRM and Visualization platform. Google Doubleclick provides the ad serving platform, and Cloud Dataflow provides ETL capabilities.
- Document Extraction: Every organization receives physical documents by mail. Be it invoices, contracts, legal documents or even resumes. Typically processing such documents involves a labor intensive process that includes data entry, data validation and finally data correction. By leveraging Google’s Vision API we made this process smoother and faster for Salesforce customers. Users can now upload a document from within their Salesforce instance and see the text extracted automatically. They can then validate and save data.
- Chatbot: A chatbot is a computer program you can talk to through messaging apps or a website. Such chatbots have the power to transform customer service – they offer various advantages like being always available, answering most common questions quickly freeing up an agent’s time. However sometimes there’s a need to transfer a conversation from a bot to a live agent. This is a use case that we have solved using technologies from Salesforce and Google. We have used Dialogflow – a powerful chatbot framework from Google to build the chatbot. And we used Salesforce Service Cloud to help manage cases and agents. Whenever the chatbot is unable to answer a question we hand control over to an agent.
There are many more applications we’re in the process of building e.g. transcribing sales calls, translating knowledge base articles in real-time, IOT based solutions, etc. We are incredibly excited about the possibilities that this partnership between Salesforce and Google brings to enterprise customers.
